Bed Maintenance

We offer this service to our customers on a weekly or biweekly basis. This includes policing shrub beds for any type of weeds or grassy weeds and controlling them with an herbicide called Roundup. This can be used in the open areas of your shrub beds so we can safely apply it without injury to ornamental plants. We hand pull weeds within the canopy of shrubs and ground covers. We also use selective herbicides for persistent perennial weeds and grass control as needed. We will also police your shrubbery for disease and insects and treat them accordingly. As always we follow the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) process to minimize the amount of pesticides used in your landscape. IPM says we will adhere to sound horticultural practices to keep your shrub beds healthy and growing. We will monitor your shrub beds on either a weekly or biweekly schedule. If a problem is detected, we will first identify the pest or disease. This may include submitting samples to or local extension service for proper identification. We will then treat affected areas with the proper pesticide or fungicides at label rate. We will also do any light pruning, deadhead perennials and annuals and use liquid fertilizer for annuals as needed and also for some shrub and perennials.

Weeding: Shrub beds, natural areas with mulch and ground cover areas will be weeded as needed during the growing season. We use Roundup herbicide on any weed we can safely apply to without injury to ornamental plants. We hand pull weeds that grow within the canopy of the shrubs and use selective herbicides for persistent perennial weeds and grasses. Your beds should remain 90-95% weed free. Remember, there will always be weeds present in a fertile growing environment.
